The area around The Barn is a haven for wildlife - especially birds. It's rare not to see a pair of buzzards or red kites soaring overhead. One enthusiastic 'twitcher' counted 43 different species of bird during their stay.

The Barn is set in the middle of 7 acres of gardens, rivers, fields and woodland.

Through the pear and plum trees and down the slope to the shallow stream. Children spend hours paddling around and building dams. You can try your hand at panning for gold in the stream.

At the back of The Barn, overlooking the orchard, a raised patio catches the afternoon and evening sun - perfect for open-air dining. There's a portable barbeque in the old pigsty.

Colourful sunsets make the patio a great place to enjoy an evening drink or barbeque as the birds and butterflies retire and the owls and bats start the night shift.

An otter took the original Koi carp but now there are 58 goldfish - most of whom were born in the pond. Everybody enjoys helping to feed them.
